Currency and Exchange Rate Policy

How Qembara handles currencies, exchange rates, and the price you see.

Simple Summary

Qembara uses Singapore Dollars (SGD) as its source of truth for all pricing. Hosts may set fees in their own currency, and you can view prices in your preferred display currency. Exchange rates are set and maintained by Qembara and applied consistently across the platform.

1. SGD as the source of truth

All prices on Qembara are anchored to the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Host fees entered in other currencies are converted to SGD using the active exchange rate, and the guest price is calculated in SGD before being shown to you in your display currency.

2. Supported currencies

Qembara currently supports the following currencies for host fees and guest display:

CurrencyCodeRole
Singapore DollarSGDBase / source of truth
Saudi RiyalSARSupported
US DollarUSDSupported
Malaysian RinggitMYRSupported
Indonesian RupiahIDRSupported

SGD is the base currency (rate 1.0). Every other currency is expressed relative to SGD.

3. Your display currency

You can choose the currency in which prices are displayed. Changing your display currency changes how prices are shown — it is a presentation of the same underlying SGD price, converted at the active rate.

The currency actually charged at payment is shown clearly at checkout.

4. How exchange rates are set

  • Exchange rates are set and maintained by Qembara.
  • Each rate is expressed relative to the SGD base and is time-stamped when it changes.
  • Rates are reviewed and updated periodically to reflect market conditions.
  • Rate changes are recorded for audit and transparency.

5. The rate applied to your booking

The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Displayed conversions are indicative and may move as rates are updated, but the amount confirmed at the time of booking is what applies to that booking.

6. Rounding

Converted amounts are rounded to a whole unit of the target currency. Because of rounding and rate movements, converting back and forth between currencies may not return the exact original amount.

7. Refunds and currency

Refunds, where due under the Cancellation and Refund Policy, are processed in the currency in which payment was taken. Currency fluctuations between the time of payment and the time of refund are not compensated by Qembara.

8. Changes to this policy

Qembara may update supported currencies and exchange rates. Material changes will be reflected on this page. This policy should be read together with our Pricing & Fee Policy and Terms & Conditions.
